Last month, the employees of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs expelled 60 citizens of different countries from the country based on the Law of Georgia "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons".
According to the information provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, some of the citizens of foreign countries left Georgia voluntarily, while some of them were forcibly expelled from the country as a result of measures taken by the employees of the Migration Department.
A total of 60 citizens of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia, India, Turkmenistan, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Iraq, Nigeria, Jordan, Algeria, Egypt and Ghana were expelled from the country based on the Law of Georgia "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons".
Among the evicted are also persons who were involved in various anti-social activities on the territory of Georgia.
It should be noted that as a result of active coordination between the Department of Migration and relevant units of the Ministry, as of October 2024, the decision to expel 384 foreign citizens from the country was made, which is 26% more than the figure of the previous year. The number of persons who left the country voluntarily as part of the expulsion procedure has also increased, in particular, 323 persons left Georgia, which is 60.7% higher than the previous year's data.
The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is actively working on the further development of the mechanisms for combating illegal migration and bringing them closer to international standards. Important legislative changes are planned, which will additionally increase the department's ability to provide effective procedures for expelling persons without a legal basis from the country," said the information released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
