We can accurately tell you the truth, CEC Chairman Giorgi Kalandarishvili has no connection with Alexander Malkevich, he never studied in Russia, and besides, he has never been to this country, - said Natia Ioselian, spokesperson of the Central Election Commission.
At the briefing, she also spoke about the accreditation of the representative of the Russian media organization, Alexander Malkevich.
According to Ioseliani, the accreditation to the representative of the Russian media organization was issued in compliance with the election legislation and the CEC does not have access to the legal status of this or that person.
"We want to respond to the disinformation campaign that has been going on intensively in the media and social networks for the last few days. The interested parties point to the connections of the election administration and its chairman directly with Russia with fabricated accusations.
We would like to categorically state that the photos of the agreement spread online, which supposedly reflect the cooperation between the election administration and the Russian company, are falsified and have nothing to do with us. There is no such document - the election administration has never cooperated with the mentioned company and among them, with any other company regarding the subject of purchase specified in the contract.
The second issue concerns the accreditation of the representative of the Russian media organization, Alexander Malkevich. The interested parties present the issue as if the election administration violated the law by accrediting the mentioned person, and the basis for this was the personal acquaintance of the CEC chairman with the journalist.
We emphasize that the accreditation to the representative of the Russian media organization was issued in compliance with the election legislation, and the CEC does not have access to the legal status of this or that person, and this does not belong to the scope of its authority.
In addition, the fact that the said person applied for accreditation to the chairman of the CEC was presented in a manipulative manner, and as if this is the main evidence that there are connections between them, while the minimum standard in the correspondence process is that the application is made to the head of the institution. It is done in the name and thus misleading the public. Any local or foreign media representative undergoes accreditation through a simple procedure, including sending relevant information via e-mail. If the submitted documentation meets the electoral legislation, the election administration will issue the corresponding accreditation.
This is well known to interested parties, and perhaps that is why, to support this misinformation, documents were additionally distributed in the online space, as if CEC Chairman Giorgi Kalandarishvili studied in Russia with someone Alexander Malkevich. We do not know whether this document is falsified or issued to another Giorgi Kalandarishvili, however, we can tell you the truth - CEC Chairman Giorgi Kalandarishvili has no connection with Alexander Malkevich, he has never studied in Russia and has never been to this country.
It is clear that all this is aimed at discrediting the election administration and its leadership.
While failing to present any evidence directly related to essential violations in the election process, interested parties are trying to damage the process by disinformation and publishing falsified, unclear documents. However, the election administration will not leave any misinformation or manipulation unanswered and will provide objective, verified information to the public and international partners," said Natia Ioselian.
