Chairman of GYLA: the schedule of appeal hearings of cases related to the violation of election secrecy has suddenly changed, and all appeals submitted to the Kutaisi Court of Appeal will be combined into one case

According to the chairperson of the "Young Lawyers Association", Nona Qurdovanidze, the schedule for consideration of cases related to the violation of the secrecy of the parliamentary elections of October 26, 2024 "has changed unexpectedly".

As Kurdovanidze writes on her Facebook page, the Court of Appeal of Kutaisi combined all complaints into one case, and they have not received an answer from the Court of Appeal of Tbilisi.

As Kurdovanidze notes, the unification of the cases is related to the decision made by the judge of the Tetritskaro court yesterday.

"The schedule for consideration of confidentiality violation cases has suddenly changed. Today, we had scheduled sessions both in the Kutaisi Court of Appeal and in the Tbilisi Court of Appeal. Yesterday, these cases were assigned to different judges and, accordingly, to different compositions. Today, shortly before the start of the proceedings, we were told that all appeals submitted to the Kutaisi Court of Appeal will be combined into one case.

If these cases were left separately, they would have to be considered by different sets of judges, the probability that someone would write a different opinion or share the precedent of Tetritskaro was more likely in such a situation. It seems that after the decision of the Tetritskaro court, the management of the court was arranged differently. The consolidated case in Kutaisi Court of Appeal will start at 16:00.

We are waiting for the confirmation of information from the Tbilisi Court of Appeals, whether all the election disputes of Eastern Georgia will be merged into one case," Qurdovanidze says.
