It is sad when the government, which is supposed to represent the pro-European people, instead of reflecting their interests, steals the European future from the Georgian people and therefore puts the European leaders in a difficult situation where they have to discuss the implementation of the mechanism of temporary suspension of visa-free travel, - about this "Unity - National Movement" leader Tina Bokuchava said after the meeting with the chairmen of the foreign affairs committees of the 8 EU countries.
According to her, one of the main subjects of discussion was the issue of conducting an international investigation in connection with the elections.
"The only important subject of today's discussion was the international investigative tool that will study the extent of the fraud that took place in the October 26 elections. There is a complete international consensus that these elections do not reflect the free will of the Georgian people, and we heard this, including at today's meeting, however, naturally, it is also important to study the specific scale for which our international friends, including creation of investigative tools.
It is clear that "Georgian Dream" will come up with various reasons to not allow the investigative tool to be launched in Georgia, because it has too many criminal activities to hide, which together led to the free European choice of the Georgian people in the historic elections of October 26.
Other issues that were also discussed was the possibility of European leaders deciding on a temporary suspension of visa-free travel, and I must emphasize that this is a temporary suspension, not a cancellation. This decision, as confirmed by the guests and announced publicly during the press conference, is discussed in the European "Leadership".
"I think it is right that the Georgian people should regain their power, regain their European future, and not only visa-free travel in our country will no longer be in danger, but Georgia should open negotiations on joining the European Union," said Bokuchava.
For information, the delegation of the chairmen of the foreign relations committees of the 8 EU countries has been holding meetings in Tbilisi since morning. The European MPs have already met with the President of Georgia, and later with the opposition. Their meeting with the non-governmental sector is also planned. It is known that "Georgian Dream" refused to meet with the delegation.
