CEC: ISFED's new study is another attempt to damage CEC's reputation

The CEC responds to the research of "Fair Elections" regarding "fake or suspicious pages of social networks involved in the useful campaign of the election administration" and declares that the election administration has nothing to do with the so-called fake and suspicious pages.

As mentioned in the statement issued by the CEC, the publication of the study at the time when the election administration was reviewing the election disputes makes the real purpose of the organization questionable and "clearly indicates its interest in damaging the reputation of the election administration in any form and by any means".

"Yesterday, the so-called research of the organization "Fair Elections" on fake or suspicious pages of social networks, which are involved in the beneficial campaign of the election administration, was spread in social networks and media. Leaving aside the "magnitude" of this so-called study, which is about 7 fake and 15 dubious pages, its publication at a time when the most important process of reviewing election disputes was going on in the election administration, makes the real purpose of the organization questionable and clearly indicates its interest in harming in any form and by any means. Reputation of election administration. In this case too, this report was used by the interested parties as if the election administration was behind all this.

The Election Administration of Georgia unequivocally declares that it has no connection with the so-called fake and suspicious pages, has never had, and will not consider such dishonest mechanisms in its activities in the future.

For the sake of justice, it would be good for the organization to indicate in the same report the facts of the organized attacks of fake and dubious pages against the election administration, especially since 2020, which started with the announcement of the results of the parallel counting that they miscalculated.

Instead of publishing the incorrect results of the parallel counting in 2020, the organization "Fair Elections" published the results of the parallel counting in 2024, thus unequivocally confirming the correctness of the results of the October 26 elections, it gives the impression that until today, they are sowing false perceptions in the public and thus their own actions or They try to justify inaction.

In addition, it becomes clear why the mentioned organization did not sign the code of conduct (ethics) signed between the CEC and local monitoring organizations, for the first time in recent years. Especially since he was one of the participants and initiator of the development of the said code.

It is important for the election administration to conduct impartial and objective observation in accordance with international good practices in order to ensure the integrity of the elections. Accordingly, we call on fair elections to return to the standard of conscientious observation and to act in compliance with high ethical principles," the statement said.
