"Strong Georgia" offers the opposition parties to jointly carry out the procedural action of leaving the mandates and closing the lists, one day and one time

The political council of the political union "Strong Georgia" voted and approved the decision regarding the canceling of the electoral lists and the official resignation of the deputy mandates. Mamuka Khazaradze, the leader of "Strong Georgia", issued a corresponding statement.

"Strong Georgia" suggests to all opposition parties that have received a parliamentary mandate that they jointly implement the relevant procedural action - on one day and at the same time - and apply to the relevant agencies together with the request to close the lists and leave the mandates.

Khazarqdze's statement explains that this will put an end to interpretations and speculations.

At the same time, he expresses his readiness to implement the said political act with the agreement and involvement of the president.

The Political Council of "Strong Georgia" officially voted today and approved the decision regarding the opening of the parliamentary lists and the official withdrawal of mandates. The decision made by the party was supported by the full majority of the Political Council.

It is crucially important that none of the political entities that received a representative mandate should legitimize the "Georgian Dream" parliament and refuse to use the mandates granted to it. All opposition entities have applied for this.

In accordance with Article 120, Clause 2 of the "Election Code", the cancellation of the decision to nominate candidates for membership of the parliament remaining on the party list is allowed after the recognition of the powers of the newly elected parliament. In accordance with Article 39, Clause 5, Sub-Clause "a" of the Constitution of Georgia, "a member of the Parliament shall have his term of office terminated early if he: applies to the Parliament with a personal statement about the termination of his term of office." Accordingly, in accordance with the current legislation, the appeal is allowed after the first session of the Parliament, at which the authority of the newly elected members of the Parliament is recognized.

Accordingly, we propose to all forces who have received mandates in the manner defined by law, to jointly, one day, at a time, implement this procedural action and together request the closing of the lists and vacate the mandates to the relevant agencies, thereby putting an end to interpretations and not allowing anyone to speculate on this topic. For more publicity, we are ready to implement this political act in agreement with the President resident and with her involvement", Khazaradze's statement reads.
