In the last few days, the first technical flights have been carried out at the Sokhumi airport, - according to the media, the so-called president of the occupied Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, stated this in an interview with Абаза ТВ.

According to Bzhania, the investor was able to supply the object with continuous electricity at his own expense.

In the fall of 2023, it became known that the reconstruction of the Sokhumi airport would be carried out by "Infrastructure Development" LLC.

The International Civil Aviation Organization does not recognize Sokhumi Airport as an international airport, as it recognizes the territorial integrity of Georgia. In 2006, the organization canceled the airport code and removed the information about it from the documents.
