Goga Memanishvili will go to the court for the arrest of the operator of the "Mtavari Arkhi" and prove his innocence there - is the operator or journalist untouchable if he violates the law?

He will go to court and prove his innocence there. If a cameraman or a journalist violates the law, are they untouchable? - this is how the deputy head of the main division of the patrol police department, Goga Memanishvili, answered the journalist's question about the reason for the arrest of the cameraman of the "Mtavari Arkhi" Sergi Baramidze.

As he noted, at the moment, the operator of the "Mtavari Arkhi" has been transferred to one of the police departments.

"If he violated the law, he would be arrested like any other citizen. I don't know what he was getting, I didn't witness his arrest. The patrol inspector explained the essence of the arrest to Sergi Baramidze. He will go to court and prove his innocence there. A cameraman or a journalist, if he breaks the law, is he untouchable? The essence of the arrest would be explained to the detainee himself, if he declares himself innocent in court," Goga Memanishvili told "Mtavari Arkhi".

Sergi Baramidze, the operator of the "Mtavari Arkhi", was among those arrested during the confrontation between the police and the protestors on Melikishvili avenue. Baramidze was arrested at the time when he was performing his official duty and was recording the ongoing events with a video camera - specifically, one of the cases of the confrontation. According to the information of the TV company, the law enforcement officers physically assaulted the cameraman during the arrest.
