Policemen, please move to the sidewalk, don't block the road! Don't create problems for citizens in the process of movement - if you protest something, protest on the sidewalk - you can't paralyze the city! - This is how Giorgi Vashadze, one of the leaders of "Unity-National Movement", addressed the law enforcement officers on Melikishvili Avenue.
As Vashadze noted in his address, the number of policemen on the avenue "does not correspond to the form of protest expressed by them".
"Why are you blocking the road? Can you tell us why the road is closed? Your number does not correspond to the form of protest you expressed. You are protesting now, Melikishvili is closed and I am asking you - why is it closed? Who forced you to close? Move to the sidewalk if you can, and if you're protesting something, protest on the sidewalk. Do not block the road here for nothing. Are you in favor of moving [to the sidewalk]? Policemen, please move to the sidewalk, don't block the road! Do not create problems for citizens in the process of movement. The city cannot be paralyzed! I want journalists to record how the policemen block the road for citizens, how they have closed Melikishvili Avenue", Vashadze said.
In addition, as Vashadze said, if the policemen protest something, the citizens will not stop them or break them up.
"Now you have to move to the sidewalk or if you want, you can take shelter in the over-roofed fanchat of the former Georgia hotel. Really, why are you standing? Why did you close the road? Will someone answer me? Can someone from the police tell us why you have closed this road? What's going on, man, at least raise your voice! When we protest, we say what we are protesting and what are you protesting? Do you have to tell me what you are doing? why are you standing As your elders got into the cars, then you got into the cars, why are you freezing yourself?
If you have something to say to the people, if you protest something, we won't stop you, we won't tear you down, or anything. Talk, but maybe you will take us to Melikishvili. What should we do, how should we act? Do you yourself realize that your superiors will put you in an absurd situation?", Vashadze said.
