According to the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Merab Turava, the Constitutional Court will probably combine the lawsuits of the President of Georgia and members of the Parliament.
According to Turava, one lawsuit has already been registered, and the second lawsuit is at the registration verification stage.
According to his explanation, after both lawsuits are registered, work on both lawsuits starts from that moment, and the Constitutional Court has a maximum period of one month for this.
"Two lawsuits have been filed in the Constitutional Court of Georgia. One by the President of Georgia, the other by the authorship of 1/5 of the members of the Parliament of Georgia. One lawsuit has already been registered and published on the website of the Constitutional Court within the time limits set by the law. As for the second suit, the second suit was sent by mail and arrived yesterday [at the Constitutional Court]. The organizational department checks its technical side. I think that during the day he will determine whether there is a flaw in the suit. After that, he will also register the said lawsuit.
Regarding the consolidation of the lawsuits, these two lawsuits were filed almost simultaneously, therefore, both lawsuits will be considered simultaneously. From what I have seen, they are almost identical in content, so it is not appropriate to discuss them separately. The said lawsuits have not yet been consolidated, as the second lawsuit is in the stage of registration verification.
As for timing, after both lawsuits are registered, both lawsuits will jointly go through the admission stage.
We are meeting in the afternoon, and we will agree on the timing of the decision on these lawsuits today.
The maximum term is one month, everything must be completed within one month. From one day to one month, that is, when both lawsuits are registered, work on both lawsuits starts from that moment, therefore, when the first stage is ready, at that time the act prepared by the court will be published.
In this case, there is no need for an expedited rule. Because this issue is already accelerated based on the legislation", said Merab Turava.
