According to the statement of the director of the Russian foreign intelligence service, Sergey Naryshkin, he hopes that the Western attempts to implement a coup in Georgia will fail, just as they failed in Kazakhstan and Belarus, Russian media reports.
"The West never lets its victims go so easily, today Tbilisi is facing another attempt at a color revolution, i.e. an attempt at a coup d'état. Let's hope that it will fail, just as the brazen attempts of the West to shake Belarus and Kazakhstan failed," Naryshkin said at a meeting of security agencies and intelligence leaders of the CIS countries in Moscow.
According to him, Georgia reduced its connection with the post-Soviet space in return for promises of European integration, but the country's authorities realized in time that such a policy is harmful.
"The ruling party "Georgian Dream" moved away from the ultra-liberal agenda and stood up to protect the national interests, traditions and values of the Georgian society," said Naryshkin.
