I appeal and demand from the Western partners of Georgia to stand by the Georgian people, not to legitimize the rigged elections - to use all the tools at their disposal, including sanctions, against the people who are guilty of stealing the elections, democratic backsliding and violence against the citizens who yesterday threatened the European future of the country. They defended, - Giorgi Gakharia, the leader of the "Gakharia for Georgia" party, said this at briefing.
According to him, in order for the country to "return to the path of European development", a new election date and a change of specific administrations are needed.
"Of course, it is our first duty, every citizen of Georgia, to unite. We should all work together, care and fight to return the country to the path of normal, European development. I would like to tell you that our goal on this path is:
to accept the date of new elections;
On the basis of political consensus, the administrations of CEC, State Security Service, Public Defender, Special Investigation Service, Inspector of Personal Data Protection and State Audit will be reached and elected. Otherwise, all subsequent elections will be meaningless. We have the only way - to get back the elections, the citizens of Georgia, our rights, only by changing these administrations.
To achieve this goal, I appeal to the citizens of Georgia and call on all of you, wherever and in what form we can, to express our protest peacefully, so that this protest is numerous, systematic and throughout the country.
I appeal to Georgia's western partners and request them to stand by the Georgian people and not to legitimize the rigged elections and the persons illegally appointed to the highest political positions, to use all the tools at their disposal, including sanctions. Not against the Georgian people. For example, I mean suspension of the visa-free regime. but to be used, specifically and personally, against the few people who are guilty of stealing elections, falsifying elections, democratic backsliding and most importantly, the violence of those citizens of Georgia who defended the country's European future in the streets of Tbilisi yesterday", said Giorgi Gakharia.
