The official representative of the German Foreign Ministry: the German government is watching the events in Georgia with great concern - if the country decides to return to the path of negotiations, the door of the European Union remains open

The Tbilisi protests show that many residents of the country do not share the government's course and a large part of the population wants to join the European Union. The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Christian Wagner, announced this in a conversation with Deutsche Welle.

According to him, if Georgia decides to return to the path of negotiations with the European Union, the door of the European Union remains open.

"The German government is watching the events in Georgia with great concern. And if the country decides to return to the negotiating track, the door to the EU remains open.

As for the protests in Tbilisi, it can be seen that many residents of the country do not share the government's course, and it is a visible fact that a large part of the population wants to join the European Union. These people have the full right to speak out in support of their demands, we refuse restraint and violence from the law enforcement agencies, - said Wagner.
