The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on the participants of the rally not to carry out illegal actions and to obey the instructions of the law enforcement officers.
The agency explains that otherwise, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will act within the mandate given to it by law.
"Despite the numerous appeals made by the law enforcement officers to the participants of the action, that their protest should not go beyond the scope of freedom of assembly and expression allowed by the law, some of the gathered confronted the law enforcement officers and insulted them verbally, damaged lighting lanterns and other equipment, and also set fire to electrical wiring. Unidentified objects are thrown at the policemen, one policeman is injured.
We call on the participants of the rally not to take illegal actions and obey the instructions of the law enforcement officers. Otherwise, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will act within the framework of the mandate given to it by law and will use the measures provided for by the legislation of Georgia," the statement said.
