The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine categorically condemns the violations of human rights in Georgia and the use of force against peaceful demonstrators. "Violence will not remain in vain," says the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, which is published by the official page of the Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia.
As mentioned in the statement, the actions of the Georgian government indicate that Georgia is turning towards Moscow.
"The government of Georgia must respect the fundamental right of peaceful protest of citizens. Especially since the reason for the protests is the government's decision to stop Georgia's move towards the European Union, contrary to the European aspirations of the Georgian people. It is surprising that the efforts of the Georgian authorities to convince that the European integration of the country continues, while at the same time its actions indicate Georgia's turning towards Moscow. At one time, the notorious Ukrainian politicians, who tried to turn Ukraine from the EU path to the Russian yoke, also said that they are only "stopping" and not trying to strengthen the European integration of our country. We firmly reject the constant attempts of the Georgian authorities to involve Ukraine in the internal political processes of their country. The Georgian authorities should stop intimidating people with the mythical "Ukrainian scenario" while implementing the "Belarusian scenario" in practice.Ukraine was and remains a supporter of democratic transformations in Georgia and its further European and Euro-Atlantic integration, which corresponds to the interests of the Georgian people. In this context, we express our solidarity with our Georgian colleague-diplomats, who publicly opposed the decision of the Georgian government to withdraw from the agenda of EU accession negotiations.
We understand well the challenges faced by our Georgian colleagues, because in 2004 and 2014, at one of the most critical moments in the history of Ukraine, the Ukrainian diplomatic service supported the democratic choice of the Ukrainian people and set an example of professional and civic courage.
We are convinced that European integration is the key to stability, prosperity and strengthening of democratic institutions in Georgia, and we strive for a successful future for our people in the big European family. Our solidarity with the Georgian people is unwavering", the statement said.
