Canadian Foreign Minister: Canada will impose sanctions on officials and organizations in Georgia

We will impose sanctions on officials and organizations in Georgia, and we will do this, of course, in cooperation with our American and European friends, - Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly told reporters in Brussels before the start of the NATO Foreign Ministers' meeting, when answering the question whether Canada would impose sanctions on representatives of the Georgian government.

"I answered this question yesterday, in Riga, where I was attending the "3+1" meeting. I said that I would definitely impose sanctions on officials and organizations in Georgia, and we will do this, of course, in cooperation with our American and European friends," - Melanie Joly noted.

As a reminder, yesterday, Melanie Joly stated at a press conference held with the foreign ministers of Latvia and Estonia and the deputy foreign minister of Lithuania that Canada will impose sanctions on individuals and business entities involved in human rights violations or corruption.
