Slovak MEP Miriam Lexman responds to the current events in Georgia and states that the raiding of the opposition offices and the arrest of Nika Gvaramia is completely unacceptable.
According to her, sanctions should be imposed immediately against the officials of "Georgian Dream".
"Raiding the offices of the opposition and arresting Nika Gvaramia is completely unacceptable. Kaja Kallas and the European Council should immediately impose sanctions on the officials of "Georgian Dream" and stop their terror against the Georgian people," Lexman wrote on social platform X.
For information, today the police searched the apartments of activists and the offices of political parties. More specifically, investigative activities were conducted in the offices of "Unity of the National Movement", "Coalition for Change" and "Droa". They also searched the "abandoned" apartment of one of the founders, Ilia Ghlonti. In addition, at the office of "Droa", at the same time as the search, the leader of "Coalition for Change" Nika Gvaramia and member of the coalition Gela Khasaia were arrested. A member of the "Dafion" movement, Zviad Tsetskhladze, has also been arrested. Also, the law enforcement officers arrested two members of "Strong Georgia". Several members of the "Unity National Movement" youth organization have been arrested.
