According to him, personal and residential houses of 6 persons were also searched within the current investigation.
"Due to the high public interest, we would like to inform the public about the ongoing investigation in the Ministry of Internal Affairs into the fact of leading or participating in the organization of group violence and publicly calling for violent actions.
On November 28, 2024, the ongoing protest on Rustaveli Avenue, in the vicinity of the Parliament building, went beyond the norms established by the Manifestation and Expression Law and took on a violent character, which has been organized and intense until now.
By means of live broadcasts, the public watches the aggressive and destructive actions of violent groups, which are manifested both in the damage to people's health of various degrees, as well as in the damage to the infrastructure. As a result of violent actions, more than 150 police officers, many citizens and media representatives were injured, the property of both individuals and legal entities was damaged, and the infrastructure of the Tbilisi City Hall was damaged.
In connection with the violent incidents, the investigation is being conducted under Articles 225 and 239 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
As part of the ongoing investigation, based on the judge's ruling, law enforcement officers began conducting investigative activities in Tbilisi and different regions of Georgia from the morning of December 4.
As a result of operational measures and investigative actions, the police arrested 7 people on the facts of organizing and leading group violence, participating in group violence: I.A., born in 1990, T.G., born in 1999, I.M., born in 2005, G., born in 2004 .G., born in 2005 Z.C., as well as those convicted in the past: V.K., born in 1971. and V.K., born in 1974
Committed crimes are punishable by up to 9 years of imprisonment.
Also, due to urgent necessity, personal and residential houses of 6 persons were searched.
Based on the judge's decision, investigative activities are being conducted in the offices of the "Stubborn" movement, the "Droa" party, and the "Girchi" party, as well as in the youth office of the "United National Movement" party.
As a result of the personal search of the arrested persons and the offices, the law enforcement officers removed as evidence: helmets, air guns, a large number of pyrotechnics, electrical devices, computer equipment, so-called Molotov cocktails, paints, various solutions, on which appropriate examinations have been scheduled.
We would like to inform the public that in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, within the framework of the current actions, the criminal act committed by the violent groups is also being investigated under Articles 187 and 353 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, within which 6 persons have been arrested at the moment.
Committed crimes are punishable by up to 7 years of imprisonment.
The investigation continues to identify and arrest all the perpetrators. Any illegal action will be followed by appropriate legal response from the police," said Kupatadze.
