Kakha Kaladze: If anyone has a protest, go to the EU representative office, ask them to make a decision regarding the opening or non-opening of negotiations and protest peacefully

The mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, published a video address on the social network "Facebook", where he once again talked about the current political events.

According to Kakha Kaladze, all decisions taken by the Georgian government serve the purpose of protecting the country and its European future.

"I would like to explain to those citizens who still do not understand the current processes - we have never taken any step against the interests of the country, against our population; We have never deviated from the path of European integration. All decisions served and serve the very purpose of protecting the country and the European future of this country; Let's protect the sovereignty, independence and freedom of Georgia. Our forefathers shed their blood for all that I was talking about now, and today we will not give anyone the opportunity to spoil it.

I want to appeal to those people once again, I am not talking about violent people, radicals, representatives of destructive groups and parties, members of youth organizations, but I am talking about ordinary, ordinary citizens, who have really suffered from the country: in recent days, I have heard many remarks about the fact that, as if, There was a wrong communication from our side, we gave wrong information to the public, many people did not understand. I understand and take note. Maybe there was a miscommunication from our side, but during all these days, it was openly said that we are doing everything on the path of European integration: we have signed the association agreement; "Georgian Dream" is the team that wrote the country's European future in the constitution; Those who managed to bring the process of visa liberalization to the end; "Georgian Dream" is the team that signed the agreement on free trade; who, despite blackmail and numerous insults, obtained the status of a candidate country for EU membership", Kakha Kaladze noted.

According to the mayor of Tbilisi, the Georgian government is ready to sign the document for the opening of negotiations today, but it will not allow the country to be blackmailed.

"I tell you frankly, you will not see any step taken by us that would be against the country's interest, the European future, but every minute blackmail on the path of European integration is categorically unacceptable. We are a self-respecting nation, we are people with the greatest culture and traditions, which we are proud of.

So, we will not get tired of repeating what we constantly say - let them open negotiations, draw up the relevant document and we are ready to sign it today, but blackmailing us with all this will not work.

The document has been drawn up and we are ready to sign it today. We are ready to speed up the process of European integration, we fulfill all the obligations stipulated in the association agreement. From our side, there is no problem, we expect the EU structures to take appropriate steps.

If anyone has any objections, go to the EU representative office, ask them to make a decision regarding the opening or non-opening of negotiations, and protest peacefully, civilly, democratically, not by throwing "Molotov cocktails" or by insulting them," said the Tbilisi Mayor.
