Ministry of Internal Affairs: Violent groups at the protest have already committed numerous illegal actions, one ministry employee was injured

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the participants of the demonstration threw pyrotechnics and various objects at the parliament building and law enforcement officials, as a result of which one employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was injured.

As noted in the statement of the ministry, each illegal action will be followed by an appropriate legal response from the police.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on the participants of the demonstration to express their protest within the limits established by law.

“In connection with the ongoing demonstration on Rustaveli Avenue, in the territory adjacent to the legislative body, employees of various units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are mobilized to maintain law and order. Violent groups of the demonstration have already committed a number of illegal actions, which were manifested in the throwing of pyrotechnics and various objects at the parliament building and law enforcement officials, as a result of which one employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was injured. The Georgian legislation protects the right to assemble, demonstrate and express, and also defines the forms of protest in order to protect public order and security. We call on the participants of the demonstration to express their protest within the framework established by law. Each unlawful action will be followed by an appropriate legal response from the police," the Ministry of Internal Affairs statement said.
