Aleksandre Darakhvelidze: We react to each fact - now we can not ask the patrol police to have the skills that can be asked of the special forces

We react to each fact and do everything within the scope of our mandate and defined by the law, - this is how the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, answered the journalists' question whether the agency is responding to the attack on the media.

As Darakhvelidze said at the briefing, it is a pity that violence is condemned one-sidedly and among them, violence is being romanticized.

"We react to each fact and do everything within the scope of our mandate and defined by law. When the patrol police is called, it records the fact and reacts. Now we cannot demand from the patrol police the skills that can be demanded from the special forces and other people who have undergone special training for this. When a group is violent, in this case, one person cannot do anything. Therefore, he called the appropriate units. An investigation has been started and all the investigative actions provided for by the law are being carried out. Once again, violence is not the solution. Violence is very bad and condemnable by everyone. Unfortunately, we see a one-sided condemnation of violence, and we don't see a two-sided condemnation of the people who are police officers. On the contrary, unfortunately, there is a romanticization of violence and a glorification of behavior as if it is okay to open intense fire on a police officer. It's good that you break the tiles on Rustaveli Avenue and throw the policemen on their heads. It's good that you shoot small metal objects with your head and hurt people. Some have damaged eyes, some have broken heads, etc. This is very bad. Therefore, everyone should stop violence. Each of us should do our best to ensure that they have the right to assemble and express themselves during the assembly and demonstration, and that whoever committed the crime is held accountable before the law," said Darakhvelidze.
