According to the lawyer, an examination has been ordered for the narcotics that journalist Nika Katsia is accused of possessing

According to lawyer Nina Lominadze, an expert examination has been ordered for the narcotics that journalist Nika Katsia is accused of possessing. The detainee's lawyer told InterpressNews about this.

As Lominadze explains, the investigation is underway under Article 260 of the Criminal Code, which refers to the illegal purchase and storage of narcotics, however, until the expert's conclusion, the part of the article that determines the part of the sentence is unknown.

The lawyer expects Nikusha Katsia to be charged today, in the first half of the day, after which the court will consider imposing a preventive measure.

"They are waiting for the expert examination's conclusion, Nika is accused of purchasing and storing narcotics. Therefore, an expert examination has been ordered, however, Nika essentially denies that he possessed any substance. He was not given a personal search report, when I entered the isolation ward, he did not even know what they were accusing him of and why he was detained, therefore, they did not explain his rights to him, he was not given a copy of the search report. Yesterday evening, I learned that they were accusing him of purchasing and storing narcotics. As the investigator told me, the seized substance has been sent for examination, they do not yet know what substance and in what quantity. After consulting with Nika, no matter what factual circumstances he told me about how his search and seizure were carried out, I also doubt that he had anything. The investigation has been initiated under Article 260, although we do not know part of it, because there is no examination report,” Lominadze said.

For information, Nikusha Katsia was arrested on December 7. According to the lawyer, Nikusha Katsia was met by law enforcement officers at his house, put in a car and taken to another area. According to Lominadze, a personal search was conducted on Katsia on the street, and the detainee explained to him that the police officers also filmed a video, but they did not find anything as a result of the search.

According to Lominadze, Nikusha Katsia was supposed to go to a rally that day. After his arrest, a journalist told him that the law enforcement officers were not talking about drugs on the way, but about the fact that “he was going to rallies.”
