The fact that we are here, 7 MEPs from different political groups, means a lot, because we want to show solidarity with those who are waving European flags in the streets and fighting for what is written in the Constitution of Georgia - for the Euro-Atlantic path, - Lithuanian MEP Rasa Juknevičienė told journalists in Tbilisi.
"Now Georgia has been granted the status of a candidate country. So the standards are very high for such requests. We are here as a fact-finding mission to see the situation on the ground and of course our meetings are very important to find the right conclusions after our mission. We want the EU to act, to be louder and more supportive. We think, we feel, we know that Georgia is a European country. We are not here to support any particular political party, but we are here to support Georgia as a state, which is now at a very important and decisive moment," said the MEP.
