I have been actively participating in demonstrations for 35 years, and I cannot recall such continuous, self-organized demonstrations. I saw those people in the streets who did not participate in such actions before - said Badri Japaridze, one of the leaders of the "Strong Georgia" coalition, in the "Tavisupali Studio" program of PalitraNews.
According to Japaridze, people participating in the demonstrations saw the danger of losing the European future to their families and country.
"This protest has already done a great job and has done it, showing the whole civilized world that the Georgian people will not accept autocracy and will not accept the loss of the European future. These self-organized demonstrations have already played a big role for this country and its freedom. I have been actively participating in demonstrations for 35 years, and I cannot recall such continuous, self-organized demonstrations. I saw people on the streets who had not participated in such actions before. Now these people have seen a direct threat to their families, to their country, that they will lose the country and its European future, so these people will march on demonstrations until the political crisis is relieved, and the only way to relieve this crisis is new elections," said Badri Japaridze.
The opposition leader also spoke about the public servants' protest.
According to his assessment, the future of the country is of much greater value to these people than what "Georgian Dream" can do to them in the form of a punitive measure.
"I am proud of these people and officials, they are patriots of the country. Our public sector is full of qualified, patriotic people who don't shy away from losing their jobs for freely protesting against the violence going on in the country, freely protesting against the loss of the European future, and we can only be proud of these people. Those who serve this country are not going to put up with autocracy and the loss of the country's statehood.
No punishment can stop patriotic and freedom-loving civil servants, because the future of the country is much more important to them than a specific job, which may be lost by the "Georgian Dream". The future of the country is a much greater value than what "Georgian Dream" can now spend as a punitive measure. The more punitive and repressive measures "Georgian Dream" will use against free people, the more protests there will be, the more public officials will confront the violence and harmful actions carried out by "Georgian Dream" towards our country", said Badri Japaridze.
