People on the street are fighting not only for their own freedom, but also for the freedom of the European continent, European Parliamentarian Rasa Juknevičienė told the media at the rally on Rustaveli Avenue.
According to the MEP, she is in Tbilisi with her colleagues in order to send a clear message to the European institutions: "not only to talk, but to act".
"The current regime is inappropriate. So, without new elections, it will be impossible to get back on the road to the EU. [The European way] is written in the Constitution of Georgia.
We, the members of the European Parliament, follow the adopted resolution [of the European Parliament].
We are here with a mission to establish the facts, as well as to talk to the people who are fighting on the streets not only for their own freedom, but for the freedom of the European continent as a whole. Because this does not only concern Georgia. Also, we have Moldova, Romania, where it is the same scenario. Also, Ukrainians who are fighting for our freedom. What the European Union should do is support all freedom fighters and not be afraid, above all, of defeating Putin's regime, because everything comes from this particular center...
We are here not only to show solidarity, to get the information we need, but also to give a push to our institutions - to the European Commission or the European Council - to send a very clear message about the current situation, to push them to act, not only to talk, but also to act," said Juknevičienė.
