New Parliament refuses to consider any draft resolutions submitted by parliamentary opposition concerning foreign affairs

The 11th Parliament refused to consider any of the draft resolutions concerning Russia-Ukraine, as well as the integration of Georgia into the North Atlantic Alliance, which were submitted by the parliamentary opposition in the previous Parliament.

Last week, the committees of the 11th Parliament discussed the reasonability of continuing the consideration of the initiatives submitted to the previous Parliament. The Parliament approved a list of draft laws initiated by the previous Parliament and on which work will continue in the new Parliament.

This list does not include any legislative initiatives of the opposition.

The leading committee on the aforementioned resolutions was the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations, whose head, Nikoloz Samkharadze, stated that “these resolutions are no longer timely, their consideration in the new Parliament is not appropriate, and accordingly, the procedure for their consideration is also inappropriate.”
