The European Union has set a world record for political hypocrisy regarding Georgia, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó was quoted as saying by Hungarian government spokesman Zoltan Kovács.
According to the Hungarian government spokesman, the Hungarian Foreign Minister, together with his Slovak counterpart, vetoed the proposed sanctions against the heads of the Georgian police leaders.
“He criticized Brussels for targeting Georgia simply because "a peace-oriented, patriotic, conservative party" won elections instead of liberal forces.
Minister Szijjártó highlighted Georgia’s progress under the Georgian Dream party, which has governed for 12 years: average incomes have tripled, per capita GDP has doubled, and foreign investments have grown significantly. "No one in Brussels has the right to question the will of the Georgian people," he emphasized.
