Kakha Kaladze: "Yes, I have a diplomatic passport — I will travel easily, and you shouldn’t worry about that"

"Yes, I have a diplomatic passport. I will travel [to European countries] very easily, and you shouldn’t worry about that. I can travel with a regular passport as well. If I need to obtain a visa, that’s not a problem either," stated "Georgian Dream's" General Secretary Kakha Kaladze.

Kaladze commented on the potential suspension of visa-free travel for diplomatic passport holders, emphasizing that the matter is still uncertain and under discussion: “Why should people with diplomatic passports face travel restrictions, whether with or without a visa? Even they [the EU] haven’t fully decided because they have only presented a document that now needs to be reviewed. How this will conclude and in what form it will proceed is also unclear.

Regarding sanctions — what for? Why should we be sanctioned? Because we didn’t allow a second front to open in the country? Because we didn’t join sanctions that would harm regular farmers, hard working citizens, businesses, and small- and medium-sized enterprises? That would have collapsed our economy. We protected the national interest, the country, and our people. If we are to be punished for that — so be it. But this is an unfair attitude and an unjust process, which our citizens clearly see.

We want a Europe that every Georgian dreams of, where fairness prevails. I am confident that this attitude will change soon," Kaladze said.

He further asserted that Georgia’s government has no control over the EU's decision to open accession negotiations: "This is a lie. How could we delay [negotiations]? How could we postpone it? They [the EU] are the ones making the decision. How can we delay it? That is a lie. You are lying; you are a false television. You have been spreading false information for years. You are propagandists of lies.

Regarding negotiations — the EU must open them, and we will sign. Blackmail is categorically unacceptable!" concluded Kaladze.
