"The EU has no complaints about our foreign policy course – any negative or strict decisions regarding Georgia are unjust and caused by political conjuncture," stated Gia Volski, First Vice-Speaker of Parliament, during a conversation with journalists.
According to Volski, Georgia is a European state, and elections in the country were not rigged.
"The EU has no grounds for complaints against us when it comes to our foreign policy course. Some issues don't align, and we need to acknowledge that. However, this misalignment lies in the fact that we are not entering into economic or military confrontation with Russia. We cannot afford it, as it would destroy this country. There are no other differences between our approaches.
There are also certain topics related to LGBT propaganda, where they are very strict with us. Only two countries—Hungary and Slovakia—have maintained a principled stance, as they also hold largely conservative positions on certain values that are accepted in the rest of Europe, such as same-sex marriage. Apart from that, there are no differences between us.
Georgia is a European state that conducts elections according to European standards, and, most importantly, these elections were not rigged. When decisions are made that are negative or strict toward Georgia, it is unfair and driven by political conjuncture," Volski emphasized.
