"We are deeply concerned about the developments in Georgia. This is not the democracy and rule of law we wish to see near the European Union and on European soil," stated Luxembourg's Prime Minister, Luc Frieden, speaking to journalists in Brussels ahead of the European Council summit.
"We call on everyone who desires a pro-European path for Georgia to ensure, first and foremost, that the fundamental freedoms we hold dear are protected throughout the European continent. Therefore, we are closely monitoring the situation and urge Georgian leaders to respect fundamental human rights," Frieden emphasized.
