Nino Dolidze: We spoke with the Council of Europe delegation about what kind of reaction should follow everything we have witnessed—violations of people's rights, torture, and inhuman treatment

Georgia is a member of the Council of Europe, and that is why they are here to protect human rights in Georgia, stated Nino Dolidze, the head of "Fair Elections," after meeting with the Council of Europe delegation.

According to Dolidze, the discussion also touched on the measures that should follow the violations of human rights.

"The important thing in this meeting was that this visit was conducted in Georgia because the country is currently in a very difficult and critical situation regarding human rights. That is why the visit is taking place now, and the main topic of the meeting was, of course, human rights.

Georgia is a member of the Council of Europe, and that is why they are here to protect human rights in Georgia. I talked about this the most, but of course, the meeting also covered the political context in the country, and we discussed what decisions need to be made and what measures should be taken to ensure the protection of people. We also discussed what kind of reaction should follow the violations we have already witnessed—violations of people's rights, their torture, and inhuman treatment. Additionally, we talked about the laws that the self-proclaimed parliament is currently trying to pass, as this law is aimed at further restricting human rights, as well as the freedom of speech and expression. We discussed what our international partners can do in this regard, including the assessments of the Venice Commission regarding the law," said Nino Dolidze.
