A "March of Fathers" and a united procession of basketball players have begun heading toward Parliament

The "March of Fathers" has commenced from Republic Square, heading toward Parliament.

Participants in the march are demanding the release of those detained during protests, a call for new and fair elections, and progress toward European integration. The march features banners with messages such as: "This is what the homeland prefers—children surpassing their fathers!"

Basketball enthusiasts and players have also joined the march at Republic Square. One of the participants, basketball player Nika Metreveli, stated that a "police regime" is unacceptable and citizens will not tolerate it.

"Today is one of the historic moments in Georgia's history because we are facing such a significant challenge. Just as the previous government used violence, this government is doing the same. A police regime is utterly unacceptable, and we will not surrender to it. We also demand the release of all detainees," said Metreveli.

To note, large-scale protests were sparked by the Georgian Dream party's decision on November 28 not to include the opening of negotiations with the European Union on the agenda until the end of 2028.
