Badri Japaridze: "The final conclusion of the OSCE/ODIHR has been published. Based on what is written in the document, one conclusion can be drawn that democratic elections did not take place in Georgia. There were numerous serious violations recorded by OSCE/ODIHR in all elements and components of the electoral process, including the pre-election period, election day, and the post-election period. It is explicitly stated that there were numerous instances of voter coercion, intimidation, and force, especially targeting socially vulnerable citizens and public officials," said Badri Japaridze, one of the leaders of the "Strong Georgia" coalition, in response to the OSCE/ODIHR's conclusion at a joint opposition briefing.
In his assessment, Japaridze said the OSCE/ODIHR conclusion is "unprecedentedly negative," highlighting numerous violations that prove the election results are illegitimate.
"None of the complaints filed before the election were substantively considered, either by the public commission or the courts. According to the OSCE/ODIHR's conclusion, at 24% of polling stations where their observers were present, the secrecy of the vote was not respected, meaning the fundamental rights of voters were violated.
The cameras installed by 'Georgian Dream' were directed at the vote-counting machines, and the arrangement of the ballots in the machines was done in such a way that it was visible who the citizen chose and who they voted for, thus violating the fundamental rights of voters.
After the election day, 1,200 complaints submitted to the election commissions and courts were not substantively addressed, according to OSCE/ODIHR, which indicates that these institutions are under the control of 'Georgian Dream,' and their independence is practically reduced to zero. This conclusion is unprecedentedly negative.
Such a negative conclusion has practically never been seen in previous elections, which directly confirms that the results obtained through such elections are illegitimate. Therefore, the elected parliament is illegitimate, and the only solution is to announce and hold free and fair elections," said Badri Japaridze.
