Peter Fischer: Under international law, Georgia is expected to respond to concerns about human rights violations in the country

Under international law, Georgia is expected to address concerns about human rights violations in the country. These are legitimate concerns for all states and not merely internal affairs, wrote the German Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, on the social platform X, in response to the activation of the Vienna Mechanism regarding Georgia.

“We agree: security is impossible without respect for human rights and functioning democratic institutions,” wrote the ambassador.

To recall, on December 20, it was announced that 38 OSCE member states, including Germany, had activated the Vienna Mechanism concerning the situation in Georgia.
