Gia Volski: The conclusion of the OSCE/ODIHR does not meet any criteria to serve as a basis for holding new elections. It does not contain anything that would justify the need for repeat elections!

Regarding the October 26 parliamentary elections, the conclusion of the OSCE/ODIHR does not meet any criteria to serve as a basis for holding new elections. It does not contain anything that would justify the need for repeat elections! This statement was made to journalists by Gia Volski, the First Vice Speaker of Parliament.

According to Volski, the OSCE/ODIHR report indicates that "the elections were competitive and were administered excellently, at a high level."

Volski also pointed out that "if there were any instances of intimidation or bribery, the report does not mention these incidents, and none of the opposition's allegations have been substantiated."

He asserts that the opposition is clutching at straws.

"There are issues that we can agree on and others we cannot, but the consultations on the results will show, and the OSCE/ODIHR has already addressed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on this matter.

What can we not agree with? We cannot agree with the idea that the decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC) should be dependent on a two-thirds majority. In this case, it would lead to a situation where a decision may not be made at all, and if the CEC is not approved by the politically engaged opposition, it will remain in sabotage mode.

As for trust, of course, there is a deficit of trust, but this deficit is often caused by some political interest and not by the real situation. The real situation is completely different; Georgia is a European country, and a large part of the population supports European integration," said Gia Volski.
