"Nika Gvaramia: 'They said people should strike and not go to work, businesses should strike and not pay taxes, factories should shut down and stop production—that’s what they were saying while criticizing others. In the end, they themselves didn’t refuse the funding based on the fabricated and falsified figures crafted by the Georgian Dream. Now that, I understand,' writes one of the leaders of 'Coalition for Change,' Nika Gvaramia, on Facebook.
This statement responds to the Central Election Commission’s (CEC) announcement that six political parties will receive funding based on the results of the parliamentary elections, with only the 'Coalition for Change – Gvaramia Melia Girchi Droa' party refusing the funding.
'They didn’t need much rhetoric: regional councils, budgets, and so on. The main question needs to be answered, please,' Gvaramia wrote earlier regarding the same topic on Facebook.
According to the CEC, the parliamentary election results have entitled seven political parties to state funding since November 26, the day after the newly elected parliament’s authority was recognized. These parties include: 'Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia,' 'United National Movement,' 'Coalition for Change – Gvaramia Melia Girchi Droa,' 'For Georgia,' 'Lelo for Georgia,' 'Alliance of Patriots of Georgia,' and 'New Political Center – Girchi.'
The CEC stated that the deadline for political parties to refuse the funding based on parliamentary election results expired on December 26 at 6:00 PM."
