Our history clearly shows that, following numerous battles fought to protect our homeland and traditions, one of the main goals and values for a Georgian man was peace, a time when our nation should have had the opportunity to live in peace—to work, enrich our own culture, create masterpieces of art, and build architectural monuments, stated Mikheil Kavelashvili, elected president of Georgia by the electoral college, during his inaugural speech at the Parliament Palace.

As Kavelashvili emphasized, the Georgian people have always known well that peace is the main guarantee of survival and development.

"You know, the Georgian table is not only an expression of our traditions and attitudes, but also an immaterial cultural heritage monument, which best shows our—Georgians'—attitude toward peace. Every traditional Georgian feast begins with a toast to the Lord and peace. Through this, a Georgian man praises God, expresses gratitude, and first and foremost prays for peace. This can be explained by our history, where peace has become a longed-for state for Georgians exhausted by wars.

The Georgian people have always understood well that peace is the main guarantee of survival and development! Achieving prosperity, continuous development, ensuring a secure and bright future, and striving for happiness are only possible under conditions where we approach existing challenges with caution, analyze the threats before us, and make decisions not based on emotions, but as a result of careful thought," said the President of Georgia.

He noted that the Georgian people are distinguished by special emotionalism, which is often exploited by our adversaries.

"That is precisely why we must act with exceptional caution and foresight! Analyzing the mistakes of the past must be the foundation of each of our future decisions. We must guide ourselves solely by our national interests," said Mikheil Kavelashvili.

He added that in recent years, against the backdrop of developments in the region and the world, our country has faced numerous challenges, including dangers that could have led to devastating consequences for Georgia.

According to Kavelashvili, overcoming these threats was made possible by the unity of the Georgian people and the state.

"The decisive role was played by the character of the freedom-loving Georgian people, who do not tolerate oppression, injustice, disrespect, and arrogance; who demand respect for our traditions, values, national identity, the sanctity of family, faith, and equality in the treatment of our homeland. It is precisely because of this—firm, unwavering character—that the Georgian people and state managed to maintain peace in this unequal battle, confront injustice and lies, all while continuing our economic progress, development, strengthening our country, and moving toward the European family," Mikheil Kavelashvili concluded.
