On Rustaveli Avenue, police are detaining peaceful demonstrators—actions such as pulling hair and dragging individuals on the ground accompany the detentions, according to information released by the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA).

According to GYLA, such actions violate the right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, do not comply with legal norms, and are a continuation of the repressions that have been ongoing for the past month.

"On December 29, during the daytime hours [14:14], employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are detaining peaceful protesters, including women, using violent methods.

The detention process involves actions such as pulling hair and dragging individuals on the ground.

Such actions violate the right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, do not comply with legal norms, and are a continuation of the repressions that have been ongoing for the past month," the statement reads.
