Irakli Chikovani attends Ukraine defense contact group meeting

Georgia’s Minister of Defense, Irakli Chikovani, is on an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany.

According to the Ministry of Defense, Chikovani is participating in the 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group held at the Ramstein Air Base. The Ramstein-format meeting is attended by defense ministers and high-ranking officials from countries supporting Ukraine.

The meeting was opened by U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. Members of the international group are discussing the need for coordinated military assistance to Ukraine amidst the ongoing war.

The Ukraine Defense Contact Group was established in April 2022 at the initiative of the United States and includes over 50 countries supporting Ukraine.
