According to the medical report, it was determined that the reason for the defendant's deterioration in health was suffocation. The defense team had previously requested the court to change the courtroom, which would have allowed us to continue working in normal conditions. Despite this, the judge refused to grant the motion, stated lawyer Davit Chikhaidze, who left the court session in protest.

He further explained that in this criminal case, the presence of a lawyer at the trial is mandatory, and when the working conditions are satisfactory, he and other lawyers will continue to participate in the court hearings.

“At the beginning of the trial, when the judge was identifying the defendants, one of the defendants became unwell. It was necessary to call an ambulance. According to the medical report, it was determined that the cause of the defendant's deteriorating health was suffocation. The defense team had previously requested the court to change the courtroom, which would have allowed us to continue working in normal conditions. Despite this, the judge refused to grant the motion.

The trial involves a person who does not speak Georgian, and the case is one where the presence of lawyers is required by the Criminal Code. They will be appointed public defenders. We will definitely participate when appropriate working conditions are provided. Our actions were aimed at preventing the deterioration of the health condition and not at disrupting the court session,” said Davit Chikhaidze.

For your information, the trial of Zviad Tsetskhladze and seven other individuals, who were detained during the protest actions near the Parliament on charges of organizing group violence, is currently ongoing at the Tbilisi City Court.
