Representatives of the Public Defender are visiting detained persons in Tbilisi and Batumi - the Public Defender calls on law enforcement officers not to restrict protesters’ freedom of assembly and expression, - reads a statement released by the Public Defender’s Office.
“The Public Defender of Georgia is closely monitoring the events developing in the country.
Currently, representatives of the Public Defender are visiting the detained persons in Tbilisi and Batumi, including at the Aladashvili Clinic, where one of the detainees is being treated.
The Public Defender calls on law enforcement officers not to restrict protesters’ freedom of assembly and expression. The Public Defender will study the cases of ill-treatment of protest participants by law enforcement officers and will respond in accordance with the law.
The Public Defender will provide the public with information about the condition of the detained and injured persons.
