Opposition Party "People's Power" to participate in the investigative commission on the United National Movement's Government

Members of the parliamentary opposition from the "People's Power" faction will join the investigative commission announced by "Georgian Dream." The commission is tasked with examining alleged crimes during the United National Movement's governance (2003-2012) and preparing both political and legal assessments of the period.

According to parliamentary rules, the ruling majority may only hold half of the seats in a temporary investigative commission, while opposition representatives must comprise less than half of the total membership.

Guram Macharashvili, a member of "People's Power," stated that their participation would fulfill the opposition quota. He added that the composition and membership of the commission would be finalized during the first week of February when the body is formally established.

"Until the collective United National Movement is held accountable and removed from politics, the country cannot move forward. This has been established by international court decisions, which clearly state that systematic crimes were committed under their rule.

We, as representatives of the parliamentary opposition, will actively participate in the commission's work. It won't require much investigation to prove that the collective UNM is a criminal organization.

This is akin to how Hitler's party was prosecuted—though it took them a long time to gather evidence. In our case, the evidence is already laid out for everyone to see," Macharashvili said.
