"This is not political retaliation! This is a conflict that occurred in a hotel. Violence is unacceptable, and violence begets violence!" stated Lado Bozhadze, an MP from the "Georgian Dream" party, in response to questions about the attack on Giorgi Gakharia at the Sheraton Hotel in Batumi.
Bozhadze noted that investigations into the conflicts involving both Gakharia and Zviad Koridze have begun, and he is awaiting the results. Currently, he only has the information disseminated by the media.
"We have repeatedly stated that violence is unacceptable, and any act of violence must be condemned. Let’s wait for the investigation, which has been launched in both cases. I am neither an investigator nor a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
A confrontation occurred, and there was violence, which is unacceptable.
Violence is unacceptable because it begets violence. Therefore, violence must end, and everyone must understand this, whether they are a citizen, a member of the media, a police officer, a politician, or anyone else," Bozhadze said.
For context, Giorgi Gakharia, leader of "For Georgia," was attacked in Batumi. The incident occurred last night at the Sheraton Hotel. Gakharia was taken to the hospital but was later discharged. According to the doctor, Gakharia sustained a broken nose and a concussion.
In addition to the attack on Gakharia, there was another altercation at the same hotel involving NGO representative Zviad Koridze. According to Koridze, he was confronted by Dimitri Samkharadze, a representative of "Georgian Dream," and his associates.
