In cooperation with the European organization Stars4media, an international bureau for journalists from Eastern European countries was established in Brussels - among the participants of the media project is "Interpressnews" agency

News Agency Interpressnews in cooperation with the European organization Stars4media has launched a new project, the goal of which is to create an international bureau in Brussels, where journalists from Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Armenia are having the opportunity to work on EU and NATO issues, under the supervision and assistance of international mentors.

Among the first selected for the Maison du MédiaLab program is Beka Beriashvili, a correspondent of Interpressnews.

The project aims to triple the number of permanent correspondents from Eastern Europe in Brussels, strengthening their presence in reporting on the EU and NATO.

The official opening of the media project took place on January, 14 with the conference STARS4MEDIA Day XI: Democracy & Maison du MediaLab. The conference was attended by the high officials of European structures, representatives of prominent media outlets in Brussels and local non-governmental organizations. Among them was European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, who during the inauguration speech highlighted the importance of fighting against disinformation and the role of media.

“Combatting disinformation together is one of our most pressing issues. As a former journalist, I know how hard it is to counter falsehoods with facts. This is where journalists are indispensable. You have the power to cut through noise, establish the facts and translate the complexities of our Union into stories.”- noted the European Commissioner for Enlargement.

Founder of the project, Christophe Leclercq during his speech acknowledged the importance of the project in order to increase the coverage related to EU and NATO issues in Eastern Europe.

"The rapprochement of Eastern Europe with the EU and NATO can only work if public opinions understand the processes, both in the East and in the West. Talented journalists want to become correspondents in Brussels. Together with the journalists' associations, we managed to convince large media institutions. The next waves of media integration, from June 2025, will require more coaching in Brussels and more support", said Christophe Leclercq.

The program is funded by individual donations, philanthropic contributions and sponsors, but could be part of an EU-funded program in the future.
