Leaders of "Strong Georgia" meet with Congressman Joe Wilson

During their official visit to the United States, the leaders of the "Strong Georgia" coalition—Mamuka Khazaradze, Badri Japaridze, and Grigol Gegelia—met with Congressman Joe Wilson, Chairman of the Helsinki Commission and author of the MEGOBARI Act.

According to the coalition, Mamuka Khazaradze handed over a joint document from four pro-European opposition alliances to Joe Wilson and conveyed the demands of the Georgian people.

“We had meetings with several congressmen, including Mr. Joe Wilson. The illusion that after January 20, the Trump administration would somehow begin to ‘legitimize’ the so-called policies of ‘Georgian Dream’ is entirely unfounded! It is absurd and a blatant lie! On the contrary, what we heard was firm support, first and foremost, for the Georgian people. Strong support for resolving this crisis in Georgia through new, fair, and transparent elections, and most importantly, the release of political prisoners.

We presented a document prepared by the four victorious opposition alliances to Congressman Wilson, as well as to other congressmen. This document outlines the necessary steps to overcome the current crisis.

Once again, I repeat: the narratives that ‘Georgian Dream’ unfortunately spreads among its voters are false. The Trump administration will firmly stand by the just demands of the Georgian people, and we will see this very soon,” stated Mamuka Khazaradze.
