Estonia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs: We strongly condemn the physical attack on Giorgi Gakharia - We call on "Georgian Dream" to immediately stop the attacks on the opposition and peaceful demonstrators

"We strongly condemn the physical attack on Giorgi Gakharia, leader of the opposition in Georgia, that took place last night in Batumi," stated the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a social media post.

"We call on 'Georgian Dream' to immediately stop the attacks on the opposition and peaceful demonstrators. Estonia will raise the issue of further actions at the EU level," the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote.

For reference, Giorgi Gakharia, leader of "Gakharia for Georgia," was attacked in Batumi. The attack on the opposition politician occurred last night at the Sheraton Hotel. Gakharia was taken to the hospital but later left. According to the doctor, Gakharia suffered a broken nose and a concussion. Media reports indicate that one of the individuals involved in the physical confrontation with Gakharia was "Georgian Dream" MP Dmitri Samkharaadze. In addition to the attack on Giorgi Gakharia, a confrontation also occurred at the same hotel with non-governmental sector representative Zviad Khoridze. According to Khoridze, he was confronted by "Georgian Dream" representative Dmitri Samkharaadze and his associates.
