The main "maestro" was Dmitri Samkharadze, he decided to organize an act of violence. He was using the "chef" image – there was no physical contact from him, but he stood out for verbal insults and managing the violence, - this is what Zviad Khoridze, the head of Transparency International Georgia’s regional offices, said in an interview with Palitranews’ program "360 Degrees," discussing the details of the attack on him at the Sheraton Hotel in Batumi.
As Khoridze noted, the attackers were connected to Dmitri Samkharadze.
"I remember about ten people, from which I had no difficulty identifying two, and I named both individuals to the investigation, one is Dmitri Samkharadze and the other is Giorgi Manvelidze. These two people are identifiable, the others I don’t know. It’s very hard for me to name why they were there and what interest they had. The fact is, they are somehow connected to Dmitri Samkharadze. The main 'maestro' of this group was Dmitri Samkharadze, he decided to organize this act of violence, and they followed him. He was using his 'chef' image there. He was shouting, 'Look at how they insult us,' and so on, urging the people to go towards the place where I was sitting.
I don’t know the specific person who approached me from the right and hit me with an object, causing an injury to my temple. This person was carrying out his task, Samkharadze himself did not hit me. He was coming and kicking the armchair where I was sitting. He wasn’t obsessed with smashing armchairs. He was kicking because he was signaling me. There was no physical contact from him, but he stood out for verbal insults and managing the violence," Khoridze said.
As Khoridze noted, after the attack on him, he found the table in the lobby where the attackers had been sitting, which would have been important evidence for the case.
"I also expressed my protest yesterday, as I believed that it was very important evidence in my case. When I came downstairs half an hour later, I saw that two tables, where the individuals who were part of Samkharadze’s criminal group had been sitting, were arranged with drinks, accompaniments, glasses, and everything that would be important evidence for the case. I think it was one of the serious violations committed by the hotel, either on their own or upon the investigation’s request," Khoridze said.
