Marko Mihkelson: NATO must fulfill its commitment regarding Ukraine and Georgia's membership in the alliance

The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Estonia’s Parliament, Marko Mihkelson, stated that NATO must uphold its promise regarding the membership of Ukraine and Georgia in the alliance.

"NATO decided back in 2008 that Ukraine and Georgia would become members of the alliance. NATO, including the U.S. and Germany, must keep its word," Mihkelson wrote on the social platform X.

For context, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced yesterday that the United States, Germany, Hungary, and Slovakia do not currently support Ukraine’s membership in NATO.

"They were honest: they do not want to see us in NATO. These four countries, for various reasons, do not yet envision Ukraine as a member of NATO," Zelenskyy remarked.
