Guram Macharashvili: When the European Parliament's resolution states that we won't be accepted into the EU without surrendering sovereignty and allowing same-sex marriages, are you surprised Georgia isn't invited to Davos or Munich?

Member of Parliament Guram Macharashvili explained the absence of Georgia's government at this year's Davos Economic Forum and Munich Security Conference by referencing a broader struggle against "Deep State" and the so-called "Global War Party," which he accused of engaging in violence.

“The issue isn’t just about not being invited to conferences. The Deep State and the ‘Global War Party’ are combating people with murder—they nearly assassinated their own president, and you’re surprised that Georgia is being sidelined in certain arenas?” Macharashvili remarked.

He elaborated that "the Deep State has infiltrated some structures, while others remain untouched, and a typical struggle is underway." According to him, this situation is expected to improve starting in 2025.

“In the United States, foreign forces—what Trump calls the Deep State and which I call the Global War Party—are fighting to the extent that they even ignore the majority will of the American people. During his election campaign, Trump was nearly assassinated twice, and before that, he was arrested.

These forces are also active within the European Union—they’ve infiltrated various structures. For example, there’s even talk of sanctioning judges at The Hague. So, what’s surprising about their actions against Georgia?

When the European Parliament’s resolution states that Georgia cannot join the EU without legalizing same-sex marriages and surrendering its sovereignty to Brussels, are you really surprised that Georgia isn’t represented at Davos or Munich?”

Macharashvili added that while representation at conferences like Davos is beneficial, the main priority for the country should be maintaining peace, as this is what investors care about most.

“It’s good to be represented at the Davos conference, but conferences aren’t the main thing for the country’s economy. The key is preserving peace. Investors are paying attention to that, not just whether you’re at Davos,” he emphasized.

For reference, Georgia will not participate in the Davos Economic Forum or the Munich Security Conference in 2025.
