"Domestic and foreign politics show that we are in a bad situation, my friends," stated businessman Temur Chkonia in an interview with InterpressNews. Representatives from the business sector are gathering at the Sheraton Grand Tbilisi Metechi Palace Hotel to discuss the current situation in the country and its impact on the economy.
"If there is no proper relationship and the blame, hatred, and division do not end, we won't reach the finish line. Isolation from the outside is already underway, and instead of strengthening communication or engaging in diplomacy, they are heading in the opposite direction. We gathered here because we want to know our country's bright future; this is not just about business, we need to know what future we have. The formula 'everything will be fine in 2030' doesn't work for us. We want to know what will happen month by month, year by year, and quarter by quarter. When they talk about economic growth of 6-7%, this has been achieved by the people you see here. This is not the work of those who are often our opponents. On the contrary, it's the result of our work that provides for families, the state, and salaries," Chkonia said.
He also emphasized that the government does not care whether sanctions are imposed, which is incomprehensible to him.
"Sanctions also have a moral aspect. If we look at it from a moral perspective, they don’t care. For me, for example, if sanctions were imposed, I might have been affected by it. There are people who consider sanctions as a reward, which is incomprehensible to me, and I have no answer to that. Not just me, but no one will have an answer," Chkonia said.
The platform of Free Businesses is holding the meeting. Representatives from different business sectors are gathering at the Sheraton Grand Tbilisi Metechi Palace Hotel.
At the meeting, business representatives are discussing the political and economic situation in Georgia and its impact on the economy. They believe that the country is facing a serious political situation that may negatively affect Georgia's economy. They emphasize the need for dialogue with the government and suggest that if the political situation does not stabilize, 2025 will be disastrous in terms of economic stability and strengthening.
